Step 1: Register for & complete two tool clearance classes at the Idea Foundry. For most people, this will be Woodshop A & B, but we offer other tool clearance classes as well, including welding, CNC cutter, stained glass, and more! Check our calendar for the full class schedule.

Step 2: Click the button below to sign up for your online membership. You will be prompted to fill out some profile information and payment details.

Step 3: Once you hit "Sign Up," your membership request will go to IF management for review. We review all memberships for approval to ensure safety & maintain the friendly, collaborative foundation of our community.

- Memberships requests from anyone who has not completed the necessary classes will be denied. You may request membership again after completing the necessary classes.

- Completion of a tool clearance class does not guarantee membership approval or clearance to use tools. Concerns regarding safe use of equipment will be documented and may be grounds for denial of membership. Anyone who has been denied membership based on safety concerns will not be able to request membership again later.

Step 4: IF management will reach out to you directly via the email you added to your profile to set up a time for your Workshop Orientation, led by our Shop Manager. During your orientation, you will receive a copy of the IF Member Handbook and learn more about workshop tools, rules, and norms.
